About Us
Kansas Meat Processors Association Historical Notes: The organization was formed in 1940 as the Kansas Frozen Food Locker and Provisioners Association with the assistance of two professors from Kansas State Agricultural College (now Kansas State University), Dr. George Filinger, Dept. of Horticulture, and Professor Davey Mackintosh, Dept. of Animal Husbandry (Meats). Membership: Operator members are Kansas "small or very small" family owned meat plants who serve customers within a limited trade area. Supplier members are businesses that provide supplies, equipment or services to the Operator member plants. Affiliate members are generally retirees who wish to maintain a kinship to the association after they've been actively involved. All membership classes pay an annual membership fee. Purpose: The association provides organized support for its membership by: 1) holding an annual convention & trade show, 2) cooperating with Kansas State University and other entities to provide timely educational programs, 3) providing unified support on issues of legislation and regulation, 4) supplying important and timely communications of news and information, 5) affiliating with the American Association of Meat Processors (AAMP) to address issues of mutual national interest.
